🛠️ OpenMontage Turns Your Agent Into a Film Crew
⭐ 77,065 · calesthio/OpenMontageRepo
Most "AI video" is the same trick wearing different clothes: animate a still, fade to the next one, call it a film. OpenMontage does something else. It hands your coding agent a research step, a script step, and an actual film editor's toolkit, then has it cut together real stock footage into a timeline instead of faking motion from photos. That distinction is the whole story this week: the gap between a slideshow that moves and a video that was actually edited.
The first open-source, agentic video production system: your coding assistant handles research, scripting, asset generation, editing, and final composition.
Every other "AI video" tool animates a handful of stills and calls it done. OpenMontage's agent builds a corpus from free stock footage and open archives, retrieves real motion clips, and edits them into a timeline, which is a different job than image-to-video.
Quick start: git clone https://github.com/calesthio/OpenMontage.git
Catch: it's early and still finding its shape, the project itself says something new is taking form and is looking for curious early users.

FileeTool ⭐ 22,548
A drag-and-drop converter for 263 file formats that works fully offline and uploads nothing. Catch: macOS support is still in preview.
craft-anythingRepo ⭐ 14,647
Studies how any site, app, or game works, then has an agent rebuild your own version. Catch: it's a clean-room engine built in Rust, so expect a setup step before the first run.
CicadaTool ⭐ 1,473
Live subtitles and meeting notes for any call, translating in real time without a bot in the room. Catch: full offline recognition is Apple-silicon only, other platforms need an API key.

Turn the prompt you keep rewriting into one you never rewrite again
Start Here is one prompt from our pack, every issue, tested on ChatGPT and Claude. Copy it, paste it into the free app you already use, and fill in the three bits in capitals: a couple of the one-off prompts you keep writing from scratch, what you actually want the output to look like every time, and where it tends to go wrong when you wing it.
Here are two or three of the one off prompts I keep writing by hand:
[EXAMPLE PROMPTS]
What I want out of it every time: [DESIRED OUTPUT]
Where it goes wrong when I write it from scratch: [COMMON FAILURES]
Produce:
1. The template, with clearly named blanks written in capitals inside double curly brackets, and a blank only where something actually changes between runs. Nothing else becomes a blank. If I wrote "only one so far", make a blank only where that one prompt plainly would change, and mark each as a guess.
2. A one line note next to each blank saying what good input looks like.
3. The output format written into the prompt itself, so I stop specifying it again every time.
4. One guardrail built into the wording that prevents the failure I named above. If I wrote "not sure yet", name the failure most likely for this kind of ask and mark that as your guess.
5. A filled in example using realistic details, so I can see it work before I trust it.
Before anything else, if what I wrote under What I want out of it every time gives me neither an example nor a described shape, say so and ask me for one, rather than inventing a standard I never set, and stop there: no template format and no example until I give you one. A described shape, a length and a list order, counts as showing me what good output looks like, so stop only if I gave neither of those. Use only what I gave you.
The line that makes it work: the prompt tells the model to mark anything it has to guess rather than quietly invent it, right down the line "If I wrote 'only one so far,' make a blank only where that one prompt plainly would change, and mark each as a guess." That one instruction is why you get a usable template back instead of a confident guess dressed up as a standard.
TRY THIS: open your sent folder or your chat history right now, find the last two times you wrote nearly the same prompt by hand, and paste them in as your examples.

Anthropic is reportedly extending an invisible text watermark to its newest models. Per reports of a customer email, from November 3 it covers Mythos 5, Opus 4.7, Opus 4.6 and Sonnet 4.6 on the Claude API, with Bedrock a few days behind. The mark sits in word choice, and no public tool to check text for it has been reported. We couldn't find an Anthropic page on it, so treat the details as unconfirmed. (r/ClaudeAI)
Vercel Schedules is now in public beta and runs recurring jobs natively, no cron service required. A schedule targets a private function with no public URL, can be toggled or fired on demand without a redeploy, and is available on every plan including the free Hobby tier. If you've been duct-taping a cron job to trigger an agent run, this replaces that duct tape. (Vercel Changelog)
A developer's side-by-side of two $20 plans is the most honest account of agent usage limits running right now. The post compares a GPT subscription with Cursor's Composer 2.5: on the GPT plan, a two-line readme edit ate 10% of the limit, while Composer 2.5 stayed fast and cheap. If your agent budget keeps evaporating on small jobs, you're not imagining it. (Orchid Files)
OpenAI released GPT-6 Cyber, a security model trained to find and validate real exploits while staying inside the scope researchers set. In OpenAI's own scope test it left out-of-scope services alone 99.93% of the time, and it turned up 81 new high-severity Firefox bugs. Access starts with approved Daybreak Red security customers, not the general API. The scoping is the real story: an agent that stays in bounds is what makes automated security testing usable at all.
