Most of what crossed my desk this week was noise. Two repos wasn't: an autonomous research agent that takes a question, runs the search loop, and hands back a cited report, no babysitting required. That's the actual shift agents were supposed to deliver, and it's sitting in a repo with 29,000 stars, not a keynote. Today I'm also watching what happens when the ground under the stack moves: a Linux distro just wrote the rulebook on AI-generated code that every other open-source project will eventually copy.

How Jennifer Aniston’s LolaVie brand grew sales 40% with CTV ads

For its first CTV campaign, Jennifer Aniston’s DTC haircare brand LolaVie had a few non-negotiables. The campaign had to be simple. It had to demonstrate measurable impact. And it had to be full-funnel.

LolaVie used Roku Ads Manager to test and optimize creatives — reaching millions of potential customers at all stages of their purchase journeys. Roku Ads Manager helped the brand convey LolaVie’s playful voice while helping drive omnichannel sales across both ecommerce and retail touchpoints.

The campaign included an Action Ad overlay that let viewers shop directly from their TVs by clicking OK on their Roku remote. This guided them to the website to buy LolaVie products.

Discover how Roku Ads Manager helped LolaVie drive big sales and customer growth with self-serve TV ads.

The DTC beauty category is crowded. To break through, Jennifer Aniston’s brand LolaVie, worked with Roku Ads Manager to easily set up, test, and optimize CTV ad creatives. Repogpt-researcher

29,224 stars · assafelovic/gpt-researcher

An autonomous agent that runs a full research pass on any topic, then hands back a cited report.

Here is the real problem it solves. Research is the task everyone claims to delegate to AI and nobody actually finishes, because a single prompt gets you a paragraph, not a report. This chains the search, read, and synthesis loop so you get the whole pass, sourced.

Quick start: clone it, drop in an API key for your LLM of choice, point it at a question.

Catch: works with any LLM provider, but output quality still tracks the model you feed it.

AffiliateAdCreative.ai

Running a real research agent is only half the job, the other half is testing what you publish from it before you spend a dollar promoting it. AdCreative.ai, an AI ad generator for images, video, and copy that scores each variant against a model trained on real ad performance before you spend. Turns creative testing from a hunch into a ranked queue for anyone running paid to grow a list.

Use it for: ranking ad variants before you spend instead of testing on a hunch.

Repoactivepieces

24,149 stars · activepieces/activepieces

Open-source workflow automation with roughly 400 MCP servers already wired in for agents to call.

Use it for: replacing a Zapier-style stack with something you self-host and extend with MCP tools directly.

Catch: the MCP surface is wide, budget real time to find the servers you actually need.

Repohaystack

26,374 stars · deepset-ai/haystack

An orchestration framework for building production LLM pipelines with explicit control over retrieval.

Use it for: teams past the demo stage who need a pipeline they can actually debug, not a black box.

Catch: more setup than a quick script, it assumes you want the control.

MCPopen-seo-mcp-skills

181 stars · Ryze-AI-Adgent/open-seo-mcp-skills

Open-source SEO and AI-visibility skills for Claude, running on your real Search Console and GA4 data via MCP.

Use it for: keyword research, rank tracking, and competitor gap analysis without leaving Claude.

Catch: needs your own Search Console and GA4 wired up first, no shortcut around that setup.

Find out what your AI assistant is holding back.

Here's a habit that costs you nothing and pays off every single time you use ChatGPT, Claude, or any chatbot: before you accept an answer, ask it one more question.
1. Get your normal answer to whatever you asked.
2. Then type exactly this: "What did I forget to ask you?"
3. Read what it gives you. Most of the time it surfaces a real gap: a missing step, a hidden assumption, a follow-up question you didn't know you needed.
4. If nothing useful comes back, ask it "What would an expert ask next?" instead, same idea, different angle.
5. Do this every time you use AI for something that matters, a decision, a draft, a plan.

TRY THIS: open your last AI chat right now, scroll to your last question, and ask it what you forgot to ask.

Debian will not ban AI-written code from its Linux distribution. The project voted to allow AI tools in development, maintenance, and documentation, with a policy built around disclosure instead of prohibition. Every open-source project watching this fight now has a template to copy or reject. (The Verge AI)

Vercel now lets you set a dollar spending cap per user on its AI Gateway. The limit covers every API key and app token attributed to that person, not just one route. If you're running agents across a team, this is the guardrail that keeps one runaway loop from becoming a surprise invoice. (Vercel Blog)

OpenAI is walking back part of Cursor's product after SpaceX's acquisition of the company. The post frames it as a decision about integration, but for anyone building on Cursor, it's a reminder that your tool's roadmap now answers to a different owner's priorities. (Hacker News)

A new Claude Code tool enforces test-driven development automatically, blocking code changes that skip writing tests first. It's a guardrail for a real failure mode: agents that ship code fast and skip the part that catches regressions. 2,322 stars and climbing. (GitHub)

Instagram is now limiting the reach of AI-generated profiles that don't disclose they're AI. The platform is responding to real user frustration with undisclosed AI influencers, not a hypothetical one. If you're running any AI-persona content, disclosure just became a distribution decision, not just an ethics one. (TechCrunch AI)

Reply and tell me what you're feeding gpt-researcher first, I want to see the questions people actually can't answer themselves. If Debian's call on AI code changes how you think about your own project's policy, that's worth a reply too.

See you Wednesday.
